i was recently introduced to this trailer by a friend that works in the movie biz. the film is called enter the void directed by argentian-born french filmmaker: gaspar noe.
“a visually arresting and audacious ‘psychedelic melodrama’ of familial ties,
inner consciousness and the circle of life played out against the neon-soaked backdrop of tokyo’s nightscape of strip bars, clubs, and seedy hangouts,
all lit up like a pinball machine.”

apparently i’m on a french art kick …cuz here comes another!
frederique daubal has fringed pages from fashion mags and transformed them into masks reminiscent of muslim niqābs. this series is called hide and seek. “it’s a statement on identity, transformation and what it means to be french today.”

i’m always down for a healthy dose of mixed media… french artist annette messager is known best for her eerie installations that incorporate photographs, prints, drawings and various materials. she actually attended art school in paris but was asked to leave because she spent more time at museums and theaters.

i realize “electro” music is really hittin it big right now …but i can’t say i’m such a fan anymore. it’s beginning to sound like a musically translated anxiety attack.
alarm sounding sirens in my face? not so much.

anywho, i’m a sucker for some sexy sultry synth! i recently discovered a french dj/producer/singer/multi-instrumentalist that goes by the name anoraak (real name : frédéric rivière). in preparation for his first album release (september 21st – whenever the sun sets), anoraak has been releasing teasers via vimeo with clips of the tracks that will be featured.
