one of my fav shoe purchases has to be my forever 21 daisy mew mews !
(i gave them the name since they are obviously inspired spring 2010 fakies)
what a great alternative to dropping a few hundred and they’ve held up superbly.
i get compliments wherever i go!
lucky for you (and me, of course)… forever 21 has unveiled another “mew mew” to add to your shoe closet. only 25 bucks. and worn by rumi of fashion toast!

how would you describe your personal style? authentic.
signature staple? anything 80s inspired. leg warmers. bows. glitter. lace. mittens. ripped jeans.
what are you wearing today? black xscape prom dress (worn as maxi skirt), fearless and free tee, grandmother’s leg warmers, yellow heels, teryn ashley jewelry, sugar and spice sunglasses, studded belt, and lace gloves by mykal miller.
what image are you trying to express/portray when getting dressed? individuality.
what inspires you? “it’s simple : the freedom to be me ALL of the time. i love to be silly and try not to take life so seriously. i make myself laugh a lot. watching someone do what they are created to do, also ignites me.”
style Icon(s)? ke$ha. madonna. lindsey ziegler.
favorite places to shop? boys section of target. discount racks. 2nd-hand clothing stores. forever 21.
favorite places to shop locally? stella. sugar and spice.
fashion faux pa(s)? baggy jeans.
favorite trend (currently)? knee high socks.
must haves for fall? plaid stockings.
advice? words of wisdom? “rock what you’ve got. it doesnt take money to be trendy. break the rules, and unleash the inner you! release the desire to please people….and wear what you wanna wear, when you wanna wear it, how you wanna wear it! i dont believe in the fashion police. i believe in confidence. if you FEEL good about what you’re wearing, then ROCK it. who CARES what people say, or what they think. creativity begins with assurance that you’re original. it’s bringing something new into being; it includes divergent thinking. create! invent! discover! imagine! suppose and predict!”
fresno…“is a place where you can be whoever you want to be and be recognized for it.”

name: ruthie inocencio
age:27
occupation: stay-at-home mom / DIYer / fashion show coordinator
website(s): zastarra.onsugar.com, facebook, twitter
how would you describe your personal style? “it’s kinda all over the place! i like to create things that people can remember me by; that leave a lasting impression.”
signature staple? “i always throw a little bit of my native american heritage into my outfit.”
what are you wearing today? white marble headpiece made out of a vintage necklace, thrifted earrings, silver rings, and bow necklace, large ring DIYed from a broken necklace, h&m olive lace top, pink vest, and blazer, forever 21 faux leather leggings, and senso “neve” wedges from solestruck.
what image are you trying to express/portray when getting dressed? “it all depends on what kind of day i’m having. i have a two-year-old so most of the time i have to make sure i’m able to run after her.”
what inspires you? “everything from designers to runway models. i can take a walk outside and find something that inspires me. my main inspiration, however, is my little girl. while most moms are worried about having their child in dance or soccer, i’m always focused on what she’s going to wear each season and how she’s going to stand out from all of the other kids.”
style icon(s)? kate moss, leigh lezark, sarah jessica parker, naomi campbell, the olsen twins, alexander mcqueen, rick owens, balmain, lanvin, vivianne westwood, and john galliano.
favorite places to shop? “i like going into stores that i can’t afford and browsing their collection of garments. then i’ll go into places like forever 21 and h&m to find similar items that are on trend but half the cost.”
fashion faux pa(s)? “iron/steam your clothes! and make sure garments fit your body how they were intended to fit.”
favorite trend (currently)? tribal, long-haired furs, and strong shoulders.
must haves for fall? silver rings, studded earrings, trench coat, garnier eye roller and olive oil (to soothe dry skin in colder weather).
advice? words of wisdom? “be true to yourself. don’t waste your time worrying about what other people think. always feel confident in what you wear. remember that trends change fast, it’s impossible to keep up so be your own trend-setter!”
fresno…“can only get better!”

ever since miu miu hit the spring 2010 shows with whimsical storybook prints, i have been lusting over the collection. sparrows, kittens, daisies paired with side braids and detachable collars… so fantastic!
i’m, of course, especially partial to footwear so the satin mary janes have continued to occupy a space in my brain. fortunately for me, a recent visit to forever21.com allowed me to indulge in this fantasy… for only $26.00! can you spot the outcast in this photo? who doesn’t belong?

what a steal riight?! available in other color options here.
